More Tsunami's -2

Tsunami's can travel across oceans in minutes, and can travel 500 miles an hour in deep water. The tsunami slows down in shallower water near the shore edge and the water recedes from the shore; and a mother wave forms and washes to the shore, that keeps keeps moving. Japan's Tsunami in 2011 moved 6 miles on the land, after it reached the shore. Tsunami in Japan, means Harbor Wave. Some say the tsunami in the Japan was really a from a 9.0 earth quake. There was a tsunami in India in 2004 that was also very big, and a tsunami in Thailand. There was a Tsunami in Chile in 2014; but, it was only about 6 foot tall. There are plates that slide where they collide at under the ocean, at the fault line; but when they get stuck, pressure builds up and then the stuck plate are springs up and a tsunami wave is formed; from the earth quake. Tsunamis can also be created by a large asteroid that crashes into the ocean, or by a large mountain area land slide. There are mega tsunami's that can reach over a thousand feet high. At some places tsunami's can happen as often as almost every 200 years where there is a fault line. When a tsunami is approaching you should try to get to higher land, and away from beach.
